Wrong Event? Shaunae Miller DIVES For 400-Meter Gold!

Bahamian runner Shaunae Miller won gold in the 400-meter sprint final on Monday night, but it is how she crossed the line that has been raising eyebrows!

In order to secure the victory, Shaunae literally dived over the line, throwing herself to the floor and winning a gold medal.

Clearly emotional at winning, Shaunae said:

“This is the moment I have been waiting for, I just gave it my all,” she said after the race.”

She won with a time of 49.44 seconds over second-placed Felix, who finished with a time of 49.51 seconds.

As for the dive, which was legal since she managed to stay in her lane as she fell across the line, Shaunae stated:

“My legs started to get a little heavy and I was telling myself that I wanted it so bad and I just did whatever it took. Now I’m coming home with a gold medal, so it is such an amazing feeling for me.”

Congratulations, Shaunae!
