Wow! See How This Guy Handled Two Elderly Ladies Being Racist At A Café

Racism is alive and well regardless of those who want to push it under the rug. Thank goodness everyone does not act out on their impulsive thoughts or there will likely be WW2 all over again.  Jarred Wall and a friend had taken in lunch at a café in Australia when they overheard two elderly ladies in a conversation spewed with bigoted remarks (words such assimilation, etc.).

Wall and his friend, who were both of Australian Aboriginal descent, instead of getting up and making a scene decided to do something that was more ‘mature’ than the ladies. Wall decided to buy the pot of tea and asked the waitress to write a nicely written note to the ‘old biddies.’  The server politely wrote the following at the request of Wall…

Wall Wrote:

Went out for lunch today. Food was great but to our misfortune we inadvertently heard two elderly ladies, seated next to us, chatting about aboriginals. The conversation was less than distasteful with words like assimilation thrown around willy nilly.

I could have unleashed a tirade of abuse but that wouldn’t have helped. Instead, I did something nice and bought them a pot of tea and left a little note on the receipt. Maybe these ladies will be a little wiser and think before they speak. Hopefully there won’t be a next time!

That’s right, kill ’em with kindness – everyone cannot be uninformed and ignorant.  We hope these two ladies learned that just because you are older, you are not wiser.  Someone has to take the high road at some point.

People on Facebook showed a lot of support to Wall and his friend:

Wall responded to the comments by saying:

“WOZERS! Cheers for the comments and shares everyone – I really appreciate it. In a time where all we tend to see is negativity and conflict, my intention to share this experience was to highlight that there are alternative ways in dealing with matters, even when it’s in a not so pleasent situation. Hopefully some will stop, think and potentionally learn. I mean to harm to the elderly ladies and I hope their day ended well.” [sic]

Social media is a gift and a curse, but mostly a ‘gift’ in times like these where a lot of things need to be brought to the forefront ASAP.
