Why Did Rihanna Turn Down The SuperBowl Halftime Show?

Everyone knows that the SuperBowl halftime show is a very lucrative gig for artists. While the performers don’t get paid to play the show, the exposure it offers them usually sees them raking in plenty of cash from music sales, streams and a general increase in interest from the worldwide audience.

You’d have to be mad to turn it down, right?

Well, it seems that Rihanna is mad – at the NFL at least – as she turned down the show. But why?

It appears that Rihanna said ‘no’ to the NFL in support of Colin Kaerpernick, as a source explained:

โ€œThe NFL and CBS really wanted Rihanna to be next yearโ€™s performer in Atlanta. They offered it to her, but she said no because of the kneeling controversy. She doesnโ€™t agree with the NFLโ€™s stance.”

Of course, as you may know, rock band maroon 5 have taken up the money-making gig, with rumors swirling that they may be joined onstage by Cardi B…
