Imagine a cop show on TV where a group of cops posing as drug-dealers set up a bust on another set of drug dealers.
Except it turns out that the people they were trying to bust were also undercover cops posing as drug dealers…
Sounds crazy, right?
Well, this actually happened in Detroit in November last year!
The two sets of police even started fighting one-another during the botched bust, with Detroit Police Chief James Craig calling the incident:
Anyway, it went down on Nov. 9 when two officers from Detroit’s 12th Precinct, who were posing as drug dealers in order to arrest buyers, were met by undercover police officers from Detroit’s 11th district, who were posing as buyers.
The officers didn’t know each other and things went off scale when more police from the 11th district turned up to serve a search warrant – and the whole thing was caught on body-cams!
As you might expect, an internal investigation has been launched…
To protect and serve?
This sort of thing hardly inspires trust in the law doing its job…
