Still Got It? Former Playboy Playmates Recreate Their Classic Covers In Iconic Shoot

Age ain’t nothing but a number – as a group of Playboy Playmates of yesteryear showed. The magazine asked some of their Playmates of the past to recreate some of the magazine’s most iconic covers – and the results speak for themselves!

Among the faces on show was Renee Tenison, who became the first African American Playmate of the Year back in 1990. Speaking about the historic shoot, Tenison reveals:

“When I did Playboy, there was a little bit of controversy because I was the first African-American Playmate of the Year and some women were saying I was being objectified. But I said, ‘Well, if you’re pro-choice, shouldn’t I have the right to choose what I want to do?’”

The idea for the updated shoots was the brainchild of Hugh Hefner’s 25-year-old son, Cooper, who is also Playboy’s new chief creative officer. The idea came to him while he was chatting to his mom, 1989’s Playmate of the Year, Kimberly Conrad Hefner.

“I was sitting with my mom on Mother’s Day and thought, ‘Hey mom, do you want the opportunity to reshoot your old cover?’ A pretty unconventional Mother’s Day gift but she said yes.”
