Did You Spot The Beastie Boys Reference In Star Wars: The Last Jedi?

Have you seen Star Wars: The Last Jedi yet? Donโ€™t worry if not, as there are no spoilers here, but did you know that the movie played some subtle homage to legendary hip-hop crew, The Beastie Boys?

An alien character called โ€˜Slowen-Loโ€™ was named for the Beastieโ€™s 1986 track โ€˜Slow and Lowโ€™ from their debut album, Licensed to Ill.

However, this isnโ€™t the first time the sci-fi franchise has paid reference to the New York rap group. โ€˜The Force Awakensโ€™ included an alien resistance pilot character called โ€˜Ello Astyโ€™ โ€“ which was inspired by The Beastie Boysโ€™ ‘Hello Nasty’ album title.

Star Wars director, JJ Abrams has never shied away from admitting his love for The Beastie Boys and hip-hop culture.

We wonder if there are any other hip-hop inspired names that we may have missedโ€ฆ
