Nipsey Hussle is to be recognized by his city when the intersection of Slauson and Crenshaw is renamed after him.
The move to rename the corner followed a petition calling for him to be officially remembered in the neighborhood where he did so much good work. The intersection will be called ‘Ermias ‘Nipsey Hussle’ Asghedom Square’ to honor his full name as well as his hip-hop moniker.
The rapper, who was gunned down on March 31st outside his store, which is adjacent to the intersection of Slauson and Crenshaw in South Los Angeles, will be remembered at a public memoriam at the Staples Centre, Los Angeles tomorrow (March 11). Tickets for the ‘Celebration of Life’ sold out online within half an hour.
Reports say that LAPD personnel, Nation of Islam members and security employees that regularly work Staples Center events will be on hand to keep the peace. The LAPD will primarily be there to direct traffic and will only respond to requests from the other security to assist.
