Nike have announced that they will release a special ‘Long Beach’ edition of their Cortez sneaker. The shoe is set to be released as part of their 45th anniversary celebrations and is being made available in a bright royal blue.
The ties to L.A. hip-hop culture are clear with the shoe paying tribute to the birthplace of Snoop Dogg, with some questioning whether the sneaker also references Snoop’s affiliation to the Crips.
The royal blue sneaker has a nylon upper and tongue tabs and lace locks. The shoe has ‘LBC’ (‘Long Beach California’ or ‘Long Beach Crip?’) stitched in gold on the rear panel and ‘Long Beach’ on the heel tab.
The sneaker will be available from June 1st for about $100 a pair.
