Valerio Leone was flying over the Namib Desert in Namibia when he took this astonishing shot of a giant sand dune which appears to be in the shape of a human face.
The 56-year-old snapper was on vacation with his family when he took the picture, but only noticed the face in the sand when his 23-year-old daughter pointed it out to him on a laptop when they were back home.
Of course, the face is merely an optical illusion as the face disappears when seen from a different angle. Plus, as humans we are naturally predisposed to seeing faces in things – which is why the grill and lights of a car can look like a face too!
