Lacoste switch crocodile logo for different endangered species’ – and people are mad about it!

French fashion brand, Lacoste have switched their iconic crocodile logo out for a selection of endangered species logos as part of the Save Our Species collaboration between Lacoste and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

As part of the Save Our Species program, Lacoste unveiled an exclusive lineup of tops for Paris Fashion Week consisting of 1,775 limited edition white polo shirts showing 10 endangered species’ instead of the original croc logo. The number of shirts produced for each series corresponds to the remaining quantity of the species left in nature, including the Vaquita dolphin, Burmese roofed turtle, northern sportive lemur, Javan rhino, Cao Vit gibbon, Kakapo parrot, California condor, the Saola, Sumatran tiger, and the Anegada ground iguana.

There seems to be a collector’s box with the shirts…

Each shirt features a different animal…

However, Lacoste’s plan drew a lot of criticism online – with some saying the brand was ‘greenwashing’ to cover up their own environmental misdemeanors…

But not everyone was quite so cynical and upset with the plan…
