James Corden’s Late Late Show Rap Battles Set For Spin-Off Series
‘The Drop The Mic ‘celebrity rap battle’ segment from James Corden’s Late Late Show is set to become a TV series of its own.
TBS announced the plans for a 16-episode series yesterday (August 11). The series will be produced by the Late Late Show’s Ben Winston and James Corden and is set to debut early next year.
Michael Bloom of TBS released a statement:
“James Corden and Ben Winston have struck a nerve with their celebrity-driven, music-infused, incredibly fun content. This series embodies the kind of unique and surprising programming we are looking for as we reinvent our approach to this genre within the new TBS brand.”
Meanwhile, Winston explained:
“Drop The Mic is such an exciting show, and we can’t wait to begin making it. Every time we have done this segment on The Late Late Show, it has become a massive viral moment. Now with TBS as our perfect partner, we hope to create some really memorable television.”
In related news, the Late Late Show’s Carpool Karaoke segment is also set for its own series with Apple Music.
