You have probably heard that a fire took hold at Notre Dame cathedral in France, damaging the iconic 12th Century building…
And yet nobody seems to be reporting if the Hunchback is OK…
Jokes aside, we are saddened by the damage and loss caused to a place of such religious and historic importance, but are pleased to hear that hundreds millions have already been pledged towards it’s rebuilding.
It is fortunate that valuable artwork and religious items were rescued from the blaze and that the main structure of the cathedral was saved.
As historian, Dan Snow, noted:
It's overwhelming but remember that York Minster and Hampton Court burned in the 80s, Windsor Castle in the 90s and Cutty Sark in the 00s. Dresden's Frauenkirche, the Catherine Palace…. What we build, we can rebuild. Their essence endures.#NotreDame will rise again.
