Imagine going to school and training for up to 14 years (this includes residencies) to become a doctor, with a goal to try to save the world, just to find yourself being discriminated against because of the color of your skin or your gender. This is what African-American doctor, Dr. Tamika Cross of Houston recently felt while on a Delta flight back home from a wedding she attended in Detroit, MI.
See her lengthy Facebook post below detailing what happened on the Delta flight (mind you, the passenger could have died while all of this nonsense was transpiring). Thank goodness for social media these days to air out all of the injustices taking place – it is truly a gift and a curse.
Delta Airlines has also issued their own statement:
See all of the wonderful black female doctors who have taken a stand to unite to show solidarity to their fellow female doctor peer, while showing the world that doctors come in all races. These female doctors rock! #WhatADoctorLooksLike
We need to stop judging books by their cover. You go, ladies! We see and salute you and would rather see you over a Kardashian or a Jenner ANY DAY!
