With French police still hunting for the armed robbers who raided Kim Kardashian’s Paris hotel and stole millions of dollars’ worth of jewelry, more information about the crime is being released.
Two masked men, dressed as police officers, got into Kim’s apartment and took $10 million worth of jewelry, including the reality TV star’s diamond engagement ring. The 35-year-old was left “badly shaken” but fortunately unharmed following the ordeal.
But there are a few details that are coming to light which make us wonder whether this might have been an ‘inside job.’
- Where Was Kim’s Own Security?
The first question is why security thought it was OK to leave Kim and her friend Simone Harouche alone in the apartment. It was Simone who alerted bodyguard Pascal Duvier after locking herself in the bathroom. Duval, who was escorting Kim’s sisters Kourtney and Kendall to a nightclub in the city, has come out with a warning to the robbers, saying:
Despite the strong words, we can’t help but wonder if any of the security team might have made sure Kim was unguarded with the jewels?
- What Happened To The Hotel Security?
We’re not suggesting that the hotel was in on the robbery, but their security certainly needs looking at. With no CCTV inside or outside the apartment block and only one unarmed night porter on duty, the hotel at the very least made it all too easy for the robbers to strike. It’s not like the hotel can’t afford to up their security – considering they are charging up over $10,000 per week for each of their nine apartments!
- How Did The Robbers Know So Much?
Reports say that the gang were able to get through the main armored door to the apartment block – which was locked from the inside! So, how did they know about the best ways to get around the hotel security? Investigators looking into the possibility that the thieves were told about Kim’s whereabouts by a member of her security or a hotel insider.
If the robbers knew what jewels Kim had, knew she would be alone, and were even let into the hotel, it certainly starts to sound like an inside job!
Sources say that investigators are having problems with the stories offered by more than one of the hotel staff.
French police have been proactive in asking local businesses if they have any CCTV footage, with one local business already turning over surveillance footage that seems to show the robbers making their getaway on bicycles.
What do you think? Does this sound like an inside job?
