Meet Ernie Mayall, the 92-year-old D-Day veteran who loves to go out clubbing. While you might expect a man of his age to prefer listening to nostalgic music from his youth, this World War Two hero regularly takes to the floor of nightclubs of Oldham near his hometown of Waterhead, England.

Wearing a suit and his military medals, Mr. Mayall, who served in the Navy is a popular figure in town. In fact, he was chosen by one club to host a special party with 300 guests invited to help celebrate his life. He was driven to the club in a limousine where he was met by a guard of honor from his comrades at the Royal Naval Association.

Ernie’s son, Ian Mayall, spoke about his dad, saying:

“Everyone says he is a legend. Nightclubbing at his age is unusual but he doesn’t do anything that old people do. Last year and the year before he went to Benidorm for the fiesta. He loves dancing and the club always makes him welcome, letting him in free of charge and everyone looks after him.”

Meanwhile, Terry Bruce, the general manager of the nightclub Liquid said:

“Ernie has been coming in every other Saturday for about three years now, either with members of his family or on his own. He knows everyone in the club and everyone knows him. You cannot get him off the dance floor. We’re always happy to see him.”

Could you imagine your grandad in the club?
